Reading Notes: My Lord Bag of Rice (Japanese Fairy Tales, Part A)

My Lord Bag of Rice - In the very first paragraph of this story, the author alludes to the story of how the character in this story changed his original name Fujiwara Hidesato to Tawara Toda, which means "My Lord Bag of Rice". I think it would be funny to write a different story of how he got this name --maybe because he had to carry a large bag of rice over and over to people during a famine in his land? Or he saved rice up, and during a famine, everyone said "My Lord, bag of rice?", and that eventually became his name.
