Storybook Favorites from the Past

  1. Love at First Retweet
    • I'm a romance lover, so this title stuck out to me. Next, I really liked this student's introduction. The author starts off with a quote and asks a question to the reader. The author uses questions directed to the reader throughout the introduction, and I like this approach because it makes the reader engage with the storybook. The introduction flows very well, first talking about Love but not the stories in the storybook. Then, it transitions into Little Red Riding Hood and the idea that she was actually going on a Tinder date with Wolf! The author provides a little background on the story, and it is excellent. I definitely wanted to read more.

  2. A Kingdom of Love in a Lion Pride
    • When I read the title of this storybook, I thought it would be about the Lion King, but instead, it's about Cupid and Psyche. First off, I like how the home page has a little tidbit of information about the storybook. Then, going into the introduction, the author writes in first person, discussing how s/he approaches the book and explains how s/he wrote it. I thought this was different but interesting. The thing that stood out the most was the background of each page. Instead of a white background, she actually has pictures, which is something I really liked.

  1. In the Digital Age
    • This title was interesting, but I wasn't sure what the content of the story would be character-wise. But, in the top-left corner, the words "Nursery Rhymes" were written, which gave me a better idea. This storybook was fantastic; it uses Twitter, Facebook, Snapchat, and texting to bring in humor and a modern day twist to familiar stories like Jack and Jill and Little Bo Peep.

P.S. In addition, I also liked Choosing Paradise. I didn't really understand what was going on, but I was very intrigued and wanted to find out.
